Kind Kingdom is seeking a qualified and experienced Lead Educator for its centre in Pimpama, Queensland
The Lead Educator will be responsible for:
● The cleaning & disinfecting equipment & resources used in the room, the room & all areas of the centre
● Setting up equipment and experiences daily both in the indoor and outdoor areas and ensuring these experiences are packed away and cleaned
● Complete duties on all centre checklists in conjunction with and /or as directed by reporting to personnel
● To ensure a safe and hygienic environment exists at all times
● Maintain the safety of the centre’s equipment and report any breakages or losses immediately to the reporting to personnel.
In respect to the Program the Lead Educator will be responsible:
● To the reporting to personnel for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate program;
● Specific individual planning responsive to the special needs of the parents and children in the group
● Make specific use of observations for the long and short-term needs of the children using the knowledge in relation to interests, skills, abilities, culture and family background information.
● Provide a curriculum based program that is developmentally appropriate to the age, needs and interests of the children in your care/group.
● Provide an interactive program for the mornings and afternoons when there is a combined group.
● Consult with the team when developing the daily & weekly program in order to best utilize the individual skills and talents of team members to achieve the most educational outcome for the children.
● Encourage parent input into the program.
● To create a friendly, secure, stimulating and interactive learning environment for the children at all times.
● To display your personal philosophy and the centre’s philosophy and goals and program outline in each room for viewing by parents and other visitors.
● To have programming (resources, observations and programming folders) available for the reporting to personnel to peruse and is to be kept at the centre at all times
● Follow all risk management plans in relation to rest/sleep policies including rest period conditions
In respect to the children, the Lead educator will:
● Treat each child equally regardless of any cultural or socio-economical or other differences.
● Role model appropriate behaviour and language with children, educators and parents of the centre.
● In conjunction with the reporting to personnel implement the agreed behaviour management strategies and techniques with consistency for each individual child’s needs.
● Maintaining and updating of children’s records and observations as directed by the reporting to personnel including program plans, portfolios, observations, developmental records, day books, scrapbooks, special requirements, WHS and other required material.
● Speak to the children at all times in a friendly, courteous manner encouraging children to participate in communication in order to extend their vocabulary and use of language.
● Develop effective behaviour guidance techniques and strategies to be consistent in monitoring behaviour.
In respect to the Team, the Lead educator will:
● Attend all Team meetings including training held monthly or when required.
● Follow direction and instructions given by the reporting to personnel.
● Attend conscientiously to the health and safety of the children including the administration of medication as per policy guidelines of all children present at the centre.
● Contribute positively to the philosophy, goals and activities of the centre.
● Contribute professional knowledge and skills to achieve the best outcome for the centre and children.
In respect to the Parent’s, the Lead Educator will:
● Greet all personnel who visit or call the centre in a professional and friendly manner.
● Knowing all parents' names and developing a professional relationship with them.
● Report verbal positive feedback to parents/guardians daily (morning and afternoon) for communication of information regarding their individual child.
● Use the communication book for parents that are unable to communicate at the centre.
● Plan and implement, in conjunction with the reporting to personnel, methods of establishing positive liaisons with parents of the children attending the centre.
● Attend two Parent Committee Meetings per year and input into the managerial process.
Relevant Skills and Qualifications:
Obtained or Studying a Diploma in Education and Care
(Children’s Services) or equivalent, Current First Aid Certificate, Current CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificate, Current Suitability Card, Certified Supervisor Certificate
