The role would involve taking charge of our centre’s daily meal preparation, leading the kitchen team and designing a rotating, nutritionally balanced menu as per national dietary guidelines. We prepare meals for up to 100 children per day, aged from birth to 5 years.

Task & Responsibilities

• Plan, organise, and participate in the preparation and cooking of food, 
  including developing a rotating, seasonal menu offering a wide variety of
  meals. 
• Develop individualised meal plans to cater to dietary restrictions, allergies,
  cultural/religious food preferences, and parental requests. 
• Co-ordinate the purchasing and ordering of supplies to reflect the menu
• Collaborate with parents and staff to review menu, customise and refine
  meal options based on children's health needs and developmental stages.
• Innovate new recipes and presentation styles to keep meals engaging and
  appetising for children. 
• Ensure proper food storage in temperature-controlled facilities and
  maintain ingredient quality from receiving to serving 
• Supervise and train other cooks, kitchen staff, ensuring smooth kitchen
  operations, and guiding them on cooking techniques and procedures 
• Implement and enforce hygiene regulations and proper cleaning processes
  to maintain a safe kitchen environment 

Qualification & Experience

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management or higher qualifications.
• Minimum 2 Years of experience required – prior experience in a childcare centre environment is desirable but not essential.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
• Excellent time management and verbal communication skills.
• Ensure that Bluebird’s philosophy, policies and procedures are upheld and implemented.
